 NO LONGER A SUNDAY CHRISTIAN

I was brought up attending church with my family.

When I left home I became interested in other areas of life, not at all motivated to God. This was mainly due to my parents separating, so I felt disillusioned and questioned the security of 'Christian principals'.

In a shopping mall a man showed me from the Bible an experience the first Christians had. I read where they received the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. On my way home I pondered on these things.

That night I prayed to God to receive this same experience and God answered me. I began to speak in tongues. I felt so joyful.

Living in Sydney my circumstances led me away from seeking God further and I forgot the experience I'd had with God that night. Yet two years later I was given another opportunity to again return to God's ways. My brother meanwhile had been 'born again' and invited me to a Sydney Revival Centre meeting. I felt at home immediately and this time I wanted to give my life over to the Lord completely. I was baptised by full immersion as the Bible instructs and started speaking in tongues again as I'd forgotten that I could.

From that day onward my life was changed. As I looked to God I felt a peace and closeness with him. I was no longer a 'Sunday Christian' but now I was now living every day of my life for the Lord.

He answers my prayers and I understand the Bible and it's promises so much more. It's wonderful to be living a life like the 'early Christians'.

 GOD IS REAL

It has been years since I found that God is real and changing people's lives. I could not believe it at first, and fought to stay the same as I was, sad and empty.

I was shown by a pastor from a Revival Centre that I should be baptised by full immersion after which I would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. I did this begrudgingly and in private as I wasn't sure what would happen to me.

I prayed for a long time and as I received the Holy Spirit I spoke in new tongues just like in the Bible.

Amazing! The things I tried to change in my life for years, like smoking and swearing disappeared straight away. My dream of having a happy marriage came true. Other aspects of my life improved gradually.

Life gets better and better every day with Jesus.

 In the early '70's I was a member of a traditional church. I then became involved in the charismatic movement and fellowshipped with a Spirit-filled group of businessmen. Shortly after I too received the Holy Spirit, with the Bible evidence of speaking in other tongues. We were then encouraged to go back to our traditional churches and spread the Word. I tried to do this but found no-one else shared my enthusiasm and so found that my walk with God became frustrated and unfulfilling. This continued for many years.

I had read in the Bible God's command to be baptised and felt that it was important that I should do what God asked.

A short time later in 1991 I was asked to a Revival Centre meeting by a neighbour.

At this meeting I was encouraged to be baptised by full immersion, the Bible way. I was baptised in the Nambucca river a few days later and praised God for my prayer answered.

Since then I have been growing in the knowledge of God's Word and thank Him for the new life I have and the promises of eternal life.
