Latest Information we have

For all those visitors who are coming down to Melbourne for Convention weekend during Queen's Birthday Holiday long weekend in June, and those who are going to travel by trains, particularly on the Broadmeadows, Sydenham, Upfield, Werribee and Williamstown lines, the trains will not stop at Spencer Street. Please allow extra travel time for this. That's also including Pakenham, Cranbourne and Frankston lines on weekdays prior to and straight after Queen's Birthday Holiday long weekend in June (remaining Melbourne metropolitan railway lines, Epping, Hurstbridge, Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein, Glen Waverley and Sandringham lines aren't affected by closure of Spencer Street). You need to read this and take note as shown below;

SPENCER STREET PLATFORMS 11 and 12 CLOSED

Platforms 11 and 12 will be closed at Spencer Street Station from Monday 21 March 2005 until Friday 24 June 2005.

This will affect train services on the Broadmeadows, Sydenham, Upfield and Werribee lines and most weekday trains on the Pakenham, Cranbourne and Frankston lines. Several weekday Williamstown line trains will also be affected.

If you are travelling on the Pakenham, Cranbourne or Frankston lines to Spencer Street:

Before 10am on weekdays:

It is recommended you alight from your train at Flagstaff and catch a train to Spencer Street departing Flagstaff on platforms 1 or 4. Please note, the 6.53am and 7.29am trains from Pakenham and the 7.54am train from Cranbourne will continue to stop at Spencer Street (platform 13)

Between 10am and 12.45pm on weekdays:

All trains from Pakenham, Cranbourne or Frankston will stop at Spencer Street.

After 1pm on weekdays:

You will need to alight from your train at Flinders Street. Trains to Spencer Street depart Flinders Street on platforms
1, 2 and 3.

If you are travelling to stations on the Pakenham, Cranbourne or Frankston lines
from Spencer Street:

Before 10am on weekdays:

You will need to catch a train departing Spencer Street on platforms 9 and 10 and change trains at Flinders Street. Trains to Pakenham, Cranbourne and Frankston depart Flinders Street on platforms 6 and 7.

Between 10am and 12.45pm on weekdays:

Trains to Pakenham, Cranbourne and Frankston depart Spencer Street on platform 13.

Between 1pm and 10pm on weekdays:

You will need to board a train at Spencer Street on platforms 9 and 10 and change trains at Flagstaff. Trains to Pakenham, Cranbourne and Frankston depart Flagstaff on platform 2.

After 10pm on weekdays:

You will need to board a Lilydale, Belgrave or Glen Waverley bound train on platform 10 at Spencer Street and change trains at Richmond. Trains to Pakenham, Cranbourne and Frankston depart Richmond on platform 4.

Weekend trains:

All Saturday and Sunday trains from Pakenham, Cranbourne and Frankston will continue to stop at Spencer Street
platform 13.

If you are travelling on the Broadmeadows, Sydenham, Upfield or Werribee lines
to Spencer Street:

Before 12.45pm on weekdays:

It is suggested you alight from your train at Flagstaff (platform 3) and catch a train to Spencer Street departing Flagstaff on platform 4.

After 12.45pm on weekdays:

Some trains will stop at Spencer Street. However, if your train goes express from North Melbourne to Flinders Street, you will need to catch a train back to Spencer Street (trains to Spencer Street depart Flinders Street on platforms 1, 2 and 3.).

If you are travelling from Spencer Street to stations on the Broadmeadows, Sydenham, Upfield and Werribee lines:

Before 12.45pm on weekdays:

Catch a train departing Spencer Street on platforms 9 and 10. Trains to Broadmeadows, Sydenham, Upfield and Werribee depart Flinders Street on platforms 4 and 5.

After 1pm on weekdays:

You will need to catch a train departing Spencer Street on platforms 9 and 10 and change trains at Flagstaff. Trains to Broadmeadows, Sydenham, Upfield and Werribee depart Flagstaff on platform 3.

Weekend train services:

All trains on both Saturdays and Sundays during these dates from Broadmeadows and Sydenham will go express from North Melbourne to Flinders Street.

Before 8pm trains from Werribee will stop at Spencer Street; after 8pm, trains from Upfield will stop at Spencer Street. Trains from Upfield before 8pm and trains from Werribee after 8pm will not stop at Spencer Street.

If your train does not stop at Spencer Street you can either alight at North Melbourne and catch a train stopping at Spencer Street, or travel through to Flinders Street and catch a train back to Spencer Street. Weekend trains to Spencer Street depart Flinders Street on platforms 1, 2 and 3.

Williamstown Line:

The 7.10am weekday train from Williamstown will not stop at Spencer Street.
Passengers can change trains at North Melbourne or go through to Flinders Street and travel back to Spencer Street.

In the afternoon weekday peak, the 4.04pm, 4.45pm and 7.05pm trains from Williamstown will all go express through Spencer Street.

These alterations to normal weekday services is due to platform reconstruction works at Spencer Street, part of the $700 million station redevelopment project. Connex apologises for any inconvenience.
